Yew was selected to provide our sustainable Everywear performance tops to Adnams, the renowned beer company, for their running team. The Adnams runners tackled the Woodbridge 10k wearing 100% recycled sports tops. Adnams are more concerned with sustainability than your average brewery and have invested heavily in an eco distribution centre as well as creating a carbon neutral beer (East Green). As such, we were really pleased to be involved with them for their shirts. Adnams ran a blitz twitter campaign to find a slogan for the back of the shirt, which became:
“Feeling Fantastic Wearing Recycled Plastic
It’s better in the long run”

Yew Clothing is delighted to announce that it has joined 1% For the Planet. 1% For the Planet is a non-profit organisation whose members are businesses from all over the world. The common commitment of each member is to donate 1% of their sales to environmental causes. Some people would call it an Earth tax, others a guilt tax. All we know is that we think it reflects the values of our business. Our business is the environment (from the reason we make sports and outdoors clothes, to the fabrics we make them from), and doing business inevitably impacts the environment. To quote 1% For the Planet: industry and ecology are inherently connected.
This is just one way that we, and around 1200 other businesses, can agree to do something to help the environment, rather than take advantage of it.

Yew will be exhibiting at this year’s Metro Ski and Snowboard Show at London Olympia. The show’s on from 21 to 25 October and is going to be an absolute blast. Check out the show’s website at http://www.metrosnow.co.uk/index.php?id=24. We’ll have our clothes, of course, but we’ll also have some special friends at our stand showing off their handmade snowboards and skateboards (more on that soon).
For a chance to win free tickets to the show and other goodies, go to our competition microsite.
If you want to book discounted tickets, go to the main show site and use code YEW. This will give you £4 off regular door prices (with the exception of the special £5 deal for tickets on Wednesday).

Yew is going to be exhibiting at the new Triathlon World Championship event in London’s Hyde Park on August 15th and 16th. This will be the venue of the Olympic triathlon in 2012, so it should be an exciting event. We will have a stand at the expo, which will be near the finish line on the north side of the Serpentine. This should be a fantastic event over the weekend, so please come watch some of the racing and say hello to us at our stand.

We just added a new page on our website called – YewTunes. You can go and have a look at our favourite tracks. We sort of tried to split them up for different things but really these are just some of the tunes we like to cruise along to (whether it’s big turns in deep powder, long runs on our own, or getting psyched up before a race). They can be just the thing to get us in the mood.
By the way, a word of warning when running on streets with music playing – you can’t hear cars. Make sure you look when you cross roads. We’re not being funny – we’ve really seen this work out badly for people.
